POSITION: HOUSEPERSON
DEPARTMENT: Staff Services
STATUS OF POSITION: Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To clean staff cabins including washrooms and hallways
- To clean apartments (Sir Henry Thornton Village)
- To clean and maintain all staff areas (outside grounds, R&R room, training room & laundry rooms)
- Stock and label supply closets
- Operate vacuums and carpet shampooing equipment
- Assist in all duties of the linen room
- Ensure all vacant rooms are clean and properly set up
- Move furniture
- Report all maintenance problems
- Light maintenance duties (clean sink taps, unplug toilets)
- Execute the mail run on occasion
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Trustworthy, reliable, responsible and dependable
- Must be very flexible and be able to work all shifts
- Housekeeping/janitorial experience an asset
- Must be in good physical condition
- Must have good verbal communication skills
- Self motivated and able to work independently
- Well organized and good at Prioritising and time management
- Must have a valid Alberta drivers license**
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To ensure all cardboard boxes, cans, bottles, and newspapers are delivered to the depot for recycling
- To deliver back to laundry all hangers and pan guards for reuse
- To reuse all one sided printed paper for message pads
- To report all leaking faucets for repair
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing: 4-6 hrs/day; walking: 4-6 hr/day; bending/reaching: 3 hr/day; pushing/pulling: 1-2 hr/day; physical effort: does not lift weights over 100 lbs, some repetitive motion; visual effort: medium, detail oriented; environmental stress: high - works in hot/cold conditions, constant inside/outside conditions, some slippery or congested conditions, working alone and in group situations
