Benefits of closed roads

May 21, 2021

Jasper is gearing up for the masses as everyone including myself needs to socialize responsibly. Here is a tip to get outdoors and be safe doing so.

Closed roads in Jasper National Park does not mean totally closed such as this Edith Cavell road, it is only closed to vehicle traffic but still open to hikers and cyclists. There are closed roads that is to all traffic, but that is mainly in the winter for conservation purposes. For the complete closures, call up Parks Canada for details.

A few people were on this road and mostly on bicycles. The road is cleared past the Internatioal Edith Cavell Hostel. A good 12-14km of pavement is great for cyclists to enjoy. This road usually opens mid June to motorized vehicles. Any vehicles over 25 feet must park at the base of the road in a provided parking area.
